I qualified as a dog handler in 1987 having passed the British Military dog handlers course with the Royal Army Vetenary Corps (RAVC) based in Melton Mowbray Lecistershire, which is now known as the Defence Animal Centre. Where it trains service and civilian personnel dog handling skills, also service dogs for active duty around the world. Including all the various different breeds used for.
Patrol dogs, Guard dogs, Drug detection, and Arms and explosives.
I have competed in many service dog trials over the years as a ministry of defence dog handler.
The trials cover 3 days with both handlers and dogs being tested on Attack work both night and day,Agility course,Obedience,and stamina by competing in a speed run over 3 miles with natural obsticles and man made ones over various types of ground including water.

He was my trial dog on my last trials in 1991 I came second out of all the mod dog sections that entered from around the uk and N Ireland.
During my career I have been teamed with 5 GSD security arm true patrol dogs trained in attack work, to Patrol secure military establishments here in the UK.
My passion is working my gundogs picking up and beating during the shooting season. as well as training and breeding gundogs for the field.
Correcting and retraining problem dogs for clients.
I am currently a Member of the British Institute of Professional Dog Trainers.
and qualified to teach Criminal bite/attack work up to MOD Police Dog Standard.
member of Hampshire Gundog Society.
Assessor and trainer for the Gundog Club.
Member of the English Springer Spaniel Club.
I have also carried out Assessments twice for the
Kennel Clubs Gundog Working Certificate.
( curently 66 assessors registered with the KC )
During the shooting season i am out and about working my dogs mainly picking up on 4 shooting estates in Hampshire.
Being Head picker up with 5 picker ups under my direction on a prestigeous commercial shoot in Hampshire shooting mainly 300+ bird days.
